PHOTO INTERNSHIP - Yoga Journal
Location: Boulder, CO

YOGA JOURNAL magazine is looking for a well-organized, creative person with a strong eye for photography, an outgoing personality and an eagerness to learn for a 3-6 month internship within the art department.

This person will report directly to the Photo Director at our Boulder, CO, office and work closely with the art and edit departments to help execute Yoga Journal’s vision.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled and working toward a degree in photography, fine art, graphic design or print journalism.
  • A commitment of 90 days is preferred; start date is flexible. Commitment of at least 24 hours per week is desired.
  • The internship MUST count as college credit. A small stipend will be provided.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe CS5.5, particularly Photoshop and Bridge, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word. Basic knowledge of video and editing also preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with macs (we are a Mac office).

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Is thorough, detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks at once.
  • Has a good work ethic and passion for photography and design.
  • Motivated and punctual.
  • Great communication skills and ability to take direction and constructive criticism.

ASSIGNMENTS
Will vary widely, but could include:

  • Assist in image research for departments.
  • Manage a stock list for each issue to send to photographers.
  • Help with administrative duties (filing, organizing, tracking, etc).
  • Accompany Photo Director and Art Directors on photo shoots to assist in various duties on a photo shoot.
  • Organize the Yoga Journal photo archives.
  • Send out comp issues and PDFs.

      ART INTERNSHIP - Yoga Journal
      Location: Boulder, CO

      YOGA JOURNAL magazine is looking for a well-organized, creative person with strong typography and design skills, an outgoing personality and an eagerness to learn for a 3-6 month internship within the art department.

      This person will report directly to the Associate Art Director at our Boulder, CO, office and work closely with the Photo Director and edit department to help the art department execute Yoga Journal’s vision.

      REQUIREMENTS

      • Currently enrolled and working toward a degree in graphic design or print journalism.
      • A commitment of 90 days is preferred; start date is flexible. Commitment of at least 24 hours per week is desired.
      • The internship MUST count as college credit. A small stipend will be provided.
      • Good working knowledge of Adobe CS5.5, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Basic knowledge of Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite also preferred.
      • Strong familiarity with macs (we are a Mac office).

      • Assist with print production: Readying images for color correction, finalizing files to ship to the printer, etc.
      • Help photo director and designer create concepts for future photo shoots.
      • Assist with various administrative duties, including organizing the Yoga Journal photo archives and sending out comp issues and PDFs.

          YOGA JOURNAL magazine is looking for an organized, detail-oriented person with strong writing, researching, story conceptualizing, and multi-tasking skills, an outgoing personality and an eagerness to learn for a 3-6 month internship within the editorial department.

          This person will report directly to the Managing Editor at our Boulder, Colo., office and work closely with the Yoga Journal edit and art department to help the team execute Yoga Journal’s vision.

          REQUIREMENTS

          • Currently enrolled and working toward a degree in digital and/or print journalism or communications.
          • A commitment of 90 days is preferred; start date is flexible. A commitment of at least 20 hours per week is desired.
          • The internship MUST count as college credit. A small stipend will be provided.
          • Good working knowledge of Word, and InDesign.
          • Strong familiarity with macs (we are a Mac office).

          SKILLS & ABILITIES

          • Is thorough, detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks at once.
          • Has a good work ethic and passion for editorial.

          • Writing short pieces for the magazine and digital.
          • Working with team to brainstorm story ideas or pitch story ideas to the team.
          • Assisting with print production: supporting the editors, proofing.
          • Helping research product ideas, track and manage products, working with editors, for magazine stories.
          • Fact checking stories for editors.
          • Being game and eager to assist with various administrative duties that are tedious but part of creating a magazine.

              Equine Network Digital Marketing Designer

              Job Description
              The Equine Network, part of Active Interest Media, has an immediate opening for a Digital Marketing Designer, located in our Boulder, Colo., office. This person is responsible for creating marketing materials for our sales teams, as well as materials for the promotion of our array of digital products.

              The Equine Network is the largest collaboration of horse-related magazines and websites in the industry. Duties would include design of marketing collateral, assistance in program strategy and more. Tasks will include the creation of the following, plus many other exciting opportunities:

              • Digital media kits
              • HTML newsletter templates
              • Sales sheets
              • Sales presentations in PowerPoint
              • Promotional ads for print and web
              • Contest imagery
              • Project wrap-up presentations
              • Social media backgrounds and images
              • Web contest and microsite design

              Within the Equine Network, we handle projects for high-profile clients and events; the thought and planning required for execution is paramount. Our products cover all aspects of the horse industry, from English and Western markets to stable management and veterinary business. We also run the most active horse classified site in the industry, Equine.com. All of these assets required marketing materials, and the person in this role would be instrumental in creating them.

              To qualify, the candidate must have a high attention to detail, be extremely organized, extensive knowledge of the horse industry and a background in design and marketing. A degree in marketing or design is preferred. Knowledge of Photoshop or InDesign, HTML, PowerPoint Xcel, Word, Outlook, and web applications is essential. Experience with digital magazines is a plus. This person will work out of the Boulder office.
